Okay, now our facial stubble is moisturized and softened, and the foam is ready. What to do next? Stir with a shaving brush in a container so that it absorbs as much foam as possible. Apply the foam to your face in circular motions. This movement of the shaving brush will lift the hairs on your face, making it easier and cleaner to shave them. Also, the shaving brush will gently exfoliate the skin particles from the face, which will make it even cleaner.

After that, to achieve the maximum thickness of the foam layer, do not use circular movements of the shaving brush, but straight ones, as if you were “painting” your face with a brush. Once you have a thick enough layer of lather on your face, you can begin to shave. Both stages of application last no more than 5-10 seconds. If you wish, of course, you can smear the foam on your face for as long as you like.

Foam preparation

What is shaving foam? This is a soap/shaving cream mixed with water and air in the right proportions. In addition to these three components, you will need a shaving brush and a mixing container.The container should have enough space so that you can vigorously mix the foam and the finished foam does not fly in all directions around the bathroom. The ideal shape is round, a cup, another metal or ceramic container, or an ordinary plastic salad bowl will do. The advantage of massive containers is that they retain heat longer from the hot water in which you soaked the shaving brush, and transfer this heat to the foam. The advantage of lightweight containers is that they are comfortable to hold in your hand, and for heating, it is enough to turn them upside down and hold them under running hot water. The foam will not fall out of them, and the temperature will rise, which will make your shave even more comfortable.

Consider making shaving cream from shaving cream. Squeeze a small amount of cream into a container. One centimeter of Proraso cream will be enough for three razor passes over the face with a generous layer of foam. And already here the cream begins to win over gels / foams. For a similar result, you need at least 3-4 times more shaving gel. Savings are evident.

As soon as the cream is squeezed out, start stirring it with a wet brush. Use circular motions, as well as vertical movements of the shaving brush, which look like a pump, to pump air into the mixture. Once the bubbles in the foam are evenly small, you can add some water. Water must be added in very small portions so as not to spoil the foam. The appearance of the foam is directly dependent on saturation with water. If the foam starts to flow down the walls, change shape under the influence of gravity, then you have added too much water. In this case, add a little cream in order to balance the water-cream balance.If there is very little foam and it is smeared on the walls of the vessel, then there is too little water. The ideal state of the foam is when there is a lot of it and it does not change shape. At the same time, during mixing, “mountain peaks” can form on it, which indicate that the amount of water is close to ideal.

By adding small amounts of water (a third to a half teaspoon, “by eye”) and stirring the foam at intervals of

10 seconds you will prepare the foam of the desired consistency. After 10-20 shaving procedures, you will be able to estimate by eye how much water the foam needs and achieve an excellent result in the shortest possible time.

The described procedure looks complicated, but very soon you will be investing in 1 minute when performing it. Many readers are already thinking: “Why should I waste this minute when I can shave faster using gel or foam?”. Answer: "No, you can't." The fact is that, as I already wrote in the article “How to shave properly”, the stubble on the face must be moistened with warm water for several minutes. And you will do this while stirring the foam along the way. You will have to be in the bathroom anyway if you want your shave to be significantly more comfortable, cleaner, lighter and less irritating. Don't believe me - check it out. Cellmen Wash n' Shave

The cost of this foam is about $70 for 50ml, and about $130 for 150ml. And of course the first thing that caught my eye was the size of the package.

For testing, I deliberately ordered a volume of 50 ml. Still, for the price, I was expecting a slightly larger package.50 ml seems to be a very modest size compared to the usual shaving creams from the store.

The advantage of the size is that such a volume can be taken on board the aircraft if you are traveling without luggage.

Natural Ingredients

I want to note right away that this cleanser and shaver is made from natural foaming ingredients.

Not everyone knows that natural cosmetics very often lose to unnatural ones in consistency and smell. Because it is much easier to make non-natural cosmetics more pleasant for the consumer - add flavors, make it foam well.

With natural cosmetics, a good result is not always obtained, but not in this case.

Smell

There are no complaints about the smell of Wash n' Shave foam, on the contrary. Surprisingly, all Cellmen products smell amazing, like an expensive perfume.

And the smell of tonic, and Cellmen face cream, and Wash n’ Shave shaving foam leave me extremely positive impressions.

Texture

The texture of the foam is more characteristic of natural cosmetics. If we compare Wash n' Shave with shaving foam, then the texture of course loses to ordinary store foam.

And when compared with facial cleansers, the texture is basically normal and corresponds to other facial cleansers from good manufacturers.

Shaving

This foam failed miserably in the shave test. I do not have particularly thick or stiff bristles, but nevertheless it turned out to be too tough for this foam. And I want to say separately that the usual Nivea foam from the store calmly copes with a three-day stubble.

Then I approached the issue differently.Since the product is intended not only for shaving, but also for washing, and we wash ourselves every day, then perhaps this foam is more suitable for daily shaving?

And to some extent, this actually happened. This foam was able to overcome one-day unshaven

But I once again emphasize that a new razor was used and despite this shaving gave me a little discomfort

That is, I would not shave with the help of this foam. In addition, for a more or less tolerable level of comfort, you have to take a large amount of funds, which significantly increases consumption.

And the inexpensive Niveev shaving foam successfully coped with both one-day and three-day unshaven.

Facial cleansing

As a facial cleanser for Wash n' Shave, I have practically no complaints. Except for one but. Components for good glide are added to the foam, which improve the shaving process.

The addition of these components did not bring much comfort to shaving. But the foam has become more difficult to wash off the face, because the skin becomes more slippery. And if I wash off my usual facial cleansing foam by rinsing my face 4-5 times, then with Wash n’ Shave foam I have to pretty tricky.

Therefore, I could only use this foam in comfort when I combined washing with a trip to the shower. That is, I applied the foam in front of the mirror, and then climbed into the shower and washed off.

Conclusion

If this foam is not suitable for shaving at all, then in principle it can be used for washing. But it loses in convenience to my regular Dr Spiller facial cleanser.

I would like the manufacturer to take into account the shortcomings and release a separate shaving foam and a separate washing foam, in which he would not add unnecessary components.To get a great product that clearly copes with its task.

What can be done with foam? Anything! More precisely, what your fantasy and the voice of reason tells you. But it is worth remembering that it is better to experiment on those things that you would not be sorry to throw away in case of failure.

Makeup artist Andrei Bakhirev, a friend and to some extent a colleague of Sergei Zverev, suggests using shaving foam instead of mousse or gel to fix hair. It really fixes the hair well, does not cause discomfort, and is easily washed off. So, if suddenly there is no mousse and varnish, but there is just foam and you need to fix the hairstyle urgently, its use will come in handy.

For home beauty treatments

There are tips for using pedicure foam. Can add it to hot waterto steam the heels, and then process them with a special nail file or pumice stone.
