Reasons for not getting water
There are eight reasons why the washing machine stops pumping water.
Closed valve
Often water does not enter the equipment due to the fact that the valve is closed.Such a banal problem is faced by many inattentive people who forget to open the tap for the normal supply of liquid to the washer system. There are various situations when you need to close the valve. Most often this is done before carrying out repairs that are associated with water supply. Also, some people turn off the faucet for safety, to prevent water from leaking.
>Therefore, before doing laundry, you need to make sure that the tap is in the correct position.
Clogged inlet hose or filter
Another common problem due to which water does not enter the washer is a clogged hose. The problem begins to manifest itself in the summer, when repair work on the water supply begins and the water supply is turned off.
If the water does not flow well, disconnect the hose and check it. If there is debris in it, you will have to clean it. To do this, the walls of the pipe are cleaned with a wire and washed with water.
Machine valve failure
The liquid enters the washer system with the help of special valves, which differ in a simple principle of operation. In order for the water to get inside, voltage is applied to the valve. After that, it opens and closes after the power supply is interrupted. Sometimes the valves stop responding even after connecting the machine to the mains. This happens due to short circuits within the system or voltage drops.
Wiring damage
If the washer hums too much and does not draw water, then the wiring is damaged. There are two reasons that lead to violations in the functioning of the wiring:
- Pulling wires. Sometimes manufacturers tighten the wires too much, which shortens their service life.Due to the increased voltage, some of them begin to break off.
- Use of thin wires. Sometimes the wiring in the washer is made of thin elements that stop working correctly when voltage drops.
The above problems lead to the fact that the valves are not energized and no water enters the drum.
Control module failure
Each modern washing machine is equipped with an electronic module, which is a mini-computer consisting of RAM and a central processor. The module controls the operation of the equipment when it washes dirty clothes. Failure of this part can manifest itself in different ways. Sometimes machine won't turn on at all, however, there are cases when, due to a malfunction of the module, water stops pumping.
Incorrect operation of the pressure switch
Modern washing machines independently determine the amount of water in the tank. A special device is responsible for this - a pressure switch. Over time, it begins to work worse and transmits incorrect data to the control board. A faulty pressure switch cannot tell if the tank is full or empty. The machine will not fill with water until the part starts working properly.
Sunroof not tightly closed
A banal reason for the lack of water is considered to be a poorly closed washer tank. Sometimes it is difficult to determine if the appliance door is completely closed. If it is ajar, the machine will not be able to start the process of filling the tank with water. Therefore, you must first make sure that the hatch is tightly closed with a latch.
Drain pump broken
If the washer is not picking up liquid, you need to check the drain pump. It seems to many that the drain has nothing to do with pouring water, but this is not so.If the technician has problems draining the used fluid, it will not fill the tank with new water. Therefore, it is necessary to disassemble the machine and make sure that there is no break in the drain pump. If he out of order, you will have to purchase a new pump and put it in place of the old one.
What should I do if the machine constantly fills with water?
If the wash cycle does not start and the machine constantly draws water into the tank, this indicates a serious breakdown
It is also very important to quickly detect the cause, otherwise such a problem will lead to at least a breakdown of the heating element.
If the machine was recently purchased, this does not yet indicate an incorrect connection. It is possible that there is a manufacturing defect or an electrical malfunction.
| Cause | Solution |
|---|---|
| Inlet valve failure. | Regardless of whether the machine is turned off or on, water will be constantly poured into the tank. The water consumption in such a situation becomes excessive even in comparison with the "siphon effect". The inlet valve is not repaired, a new one is put in place of the broken one. |
| The tank of the machine has leaked. | If the machine is not equipped with an aqua-stop protection system, water will flow under the machine, flooding the floor, as the module will continue to send commands to fill with water to the required level. In this case, the tank is either repaired or replaced. |
| Failure pressure switch. | This is a water level sensor. If it breaks, a complete replacement is recommended, because this part is inexpensive. However, repair is also possible:
|
| Malfunctions in the module itself. | In such a situation, only a specialist from the service center will help, self-repair is fraught with aggravation of the situation. |
You can also determine the cause by exclusion. If there is no “siphon effect” and there are no smudges under the machine, then the problem is either a breakdown of the intake valve or a malfunction of the pressure switch. Did checking and possibly replacing them fix the problem? Then the control module is definitely faulty.
In summary, it should be noted that problems with water collection always signal malfunctions. Often you can deal with the error yourself, but some of the described cases require work in the service center.
How to avoid problems with a Samsung typewriter in the future?
In order to forget about the problem with water intake for a long time or forever, you need to remember the provoking factors
It is important to prevent them during the operation of the Samsung washing machine
The problem may be caused by:
- High humidity in the room where the household appliance is installed. This leads to dampness and disruption of contacts. The room must have good ventilation and be heated.
- Sudden voltage drops. Due to such electrical failures, the board may burn out. For protection, it is recommended to install special modular-type voltage relays in the house or connect the SMA through a stabilizer.
- Worn cord, plug or socket. It is necessary to ensure that the equipment that provides power to the washing machine is always in good condition.
Why does water flow slowly?
It happens that the washing machine does not draw water at all, but more often water enters the drum, but extremely slowly
If you suspect something is wrong, pay attention to the following factors:
- The power of water supply to the faucet. A weak pressure can cause the water to be supplied under insufficient pressure, therefore, the machine cannot work in the same mode. Check the condition of the inlet valve for supplying water to the drum. It may be partially covered.
- The condition of the filter on the inlet valve. If it is clogged, then the washing machine does not draw water at all or does it very slowly. The filter looks like a dense mesh. Its purpose is to trap any contaminants that enter the water. With frequent and intensive use, the filter may become clogged and lose its previous throughput. At the same time, you will notice that the machine does not draw water at the same speed. Our next article will tell you how to clean the filter.
Washing machine inlet valve
The inlet valve of the washing machine is single, double or triple. Accordingly, some modes are able to draw water, while others will not. It is necessary to check each path separately. To do this, the washing machine is disassembled. The top cover is removed first. Nothing else is required - the inlet valve is located at the top of the rear wall.
Inside there are coils according to the number of channels, each core opens and cuts off the flow of water. There is a pressure reducer at the common inlet. This is just a rubber washer, it is permissible to remove and rinse if it is clear that dirt has accumulated inside. Careful! If dirt gets into the inner membrane, the valve will constantly poison water. In the latter case, it is extremely difficult to repair the part. Will have to buy a new one.
Now for the device.Each coil includes a rod core resting on a membrane, in the center of which a hole is made. In normal condition, the return spring keeps the system closed. When current is applied to the coil, the rod rises, giving freedom to the water. This is how a fence is made for any step of the cycle. A voltage of 220 V is applied to the coils, by disconnecting the terminals, each stroke can be checked.
The washing machine does not draw water at all
If you started the washing machine by selecting a washing program, and water does not enter the washing machine at all, then any of the following breakdowns is possible here. Check the machine for them in order to determine the exact cause.
The water supply to the washing machine is closed
The first thing to check is to see if the water supply tap to the washing machine is open. Usually it is placed in the place where the rubber hose from the washer is connected to the pipeline. Here's what it looks like:
No water or low pressure
The first and most banal situation is when there is simply no water in the tap. In our country, this, unfortunately, happens very often. Therefore, if you notice that water does not enter the washer, then in order to eliminate this cause, open the water tap. If there is no water, or the pressure is too low, then consider that the reason has been established.
To solve it, you need to call your housing office and find out the causes and timing of troubleshooting. In any case, you will have to wait for them to fix everything and only after that continue washing.
Loading door not closed
The washing machine has a lot of different protections, one of them is that when the door is open to load the laundry, water will not be supplied and the washing program will not start.First, make sure the door is tightly closed and not loose. To do this, close it tightly with your hand.
If the door does not lock when manually closed, then you have the fixing tab on it is broken, or the latch which is located in the lock of the washing machine body. The tongue can simply be skewed, this is because a stem falls out of it, which serves as a fastener.
This happens due to the fact that over time the door hinges weaken, and the hatch warps. Either way, you will need to align the door or take it apart to fit the stem. Also, if the lock itself is broken, then it needs to be replaced. Watch the video, which clearly demonstrates the repair of the door lock:
The second problem that may arise with not closing the hatch. it not working door lock. The fact is that in any washing machine, the hatch is blocked before washing in order to protect you. If the machine cannot lock the door, then it will not start the washing program, which means that water will not be drawn into the machine.
Broken water inlet valve
The inlet valve is responsible for supplying water to the washing machine. When the programmer sends a signal to it, the valve opens and water is supplied to the machine. When a signal comes that there is already enough water, the valve shuts off the water. A kind of electronic faucet. It turns out that if the valve is not working, then it will not be able to open itself and we will not see water in the washing machine. The easiest way is to ring it, because most often the coil burns out at the valve. It is located behind the washing machine, and the inlet hose is screwed to it.
If the water supply valve is broken, it should be replaced.
Broken software module
The software module is the central "computer" of the washing machine, which performs all the intelligent actions. It contains all the time data, washing programs, and in general it controls all the sensors.
If it was the programmer that broke down, then this is a rather serious breakdown, and you cannot do without calling the wizard. It may be possible to repair it, if not, then you will have to change it completely. In any case, before checking and changing the software module, first check all of the above, because in 99% of cases the problem lies either in a clogged filter, or in a closed tap, or in a broken door.
A malfunction of household appliances is always unpleasant for the owners. And the breakdown of the washing machine - even more so. We are so accustomed to daily quick cycles or big Sunday washes that we don’t even think about how much work it cost to wash in a simple centrifuge like “Kyrgyzstan”.
The source of a washing machine breakdown cannot always be determined at a glance. You need to be an experienced craftsman with a lot of experience. Of course, 85-90% of breakdowns are the same for all washing machines, because their mechanisms differ little from each other. However, there are also unique ones, which depend on the individual operating conditions and features of the washing machine.
In any case, it is useful to know the list of possible causes in order to be able to correct some of them yourself.
We will look at the stereotypical sources of washing machine failure in the event that water does not enter it.
Features of the search for a breakdown
It is not so difficult to independently find why water is not poured into the machine.The main thing is to act consistently and carefully, having previously disconnected the Zanussi from the water supply and the electrical network. The first step is to eliminate the simplest options:
- make sure that the central water supply is functioning and there is water in the pipes;
- see that the water supply tap to the machine is open;
- unhook the inlet hose from the body and check for blockages, cracks or kinks.
Without noticing problems, we move further towards the mesh filter. It is a round nozzle placed in the inlet hose at the junction with the body of the machine. To check its status, you need to:
- unhook the inlet hose from the body of the Zanussi;
- find a mesh filter;
- grab the existing ledge on the filter with pliers and pull it towards you;
- clean the mesh under the pressure of water (if necessary, clean it with a toothbrush or soak it in a lemon solution);
- insert the filter into the seat, and then attach the hose.
Water will not be poured even if the coarse filter is clogged. It is built directly into the water pipe, right behind the tap. To fix the problem, you need to unhook the inlet hose and unscrew a couple of elements with wrenches. A stream will rush out of the hole formed, which will wash the filter mesh. The main thing is to be ready for the jet and substitute the pelvis.
What damage caused this?
An empty Bosch machine will not wash things, so you need to fix the situation as soon as possible. First of all, you should check if there is water in the pipes - it is possible that the central water supply is turned off.In the second step, we make sure that the hatch door is tightly closed, since when the drum is unlocked, the system does not activate the UBL and does not give a command to fill the tank.
If everything is in order with the water supply and the door, we begin advanced diagnostics. Several malfunctions can lead to problems with water intake: from a kinked hose to damage to the control board. It is not difficult to determine the "culprit" if you know the main "symptoms" of typical failures and breakdowns.
- Broken filling valve. If it was previously noticed that the powder from the cuvette is not completely washed out, then it is likely that the part is out of order. It is easy to make sure that it works: just turn on the element in the network and apply 220V to it. A serviceable valve should close and click, and if there is no response to voltage, a replacement is necessary. We check two devices at once.
- Clogged mesh. The machine does not draw water if the inlet filtration system is clogged. The machine will try to fill the tank for a long time and buzz characteristically. The problem is eliminated by dismantling and cleaning the mesh.
- Clogged filter. Often a dirty coarse filter prevents the set. The nozzle needs to be cleaned.
- Broken pressure switch. If the level sensor is faulty, the control board cannot track the degree of filling of the tank and, for safety reasons, does not start water intake. To confirm the breakdown, it is necessary to remove the top cover of the machine, find the device, disconnect the connected tube, substitute a hose of a comparable diameter and blow. A working pressure switch will “answer” with clicks, and a broken one will “keep silent”. In the second case, the part must be removed from the housing, inspected and cleaned. Probably, the fitting is clogged, and after “blowing” it will come back into shape.
- Clogged inlet hose. It is possible that the elastic is pinched and does not allow water to "pass" to Bosch.
- Damaged pressure switch hose. During operation, it loses its tightness, wears out and passes air, creating problems with pressure and the operation of the level sensor.
- Faulty drain pump. If the board has detected a pump failure, the water intake will not start. You need to repair or replace the part first.
- Broken board. If there are problems with the “brain”, the washing machine will not work at all, and in particular, it will not draw water.
If the Bosch washing machine has a display, then in the absence of a set, you should pay attention to the displayed error code. By deciphering the combination using the factory manual or the Internet, you can narrow the range of problems and quickly identify the “culprit” of the failure.
Possible causes of failure
All breakdowns of equipment can be conditionally divided into several categories:
- flaws that are not related to the operation of the device;
- mechanical damage;
- electronics failure.
The above reasons can lead to a decrease in the power of the water pressure during operation of the machine and subsequently completely stop its operation. If the failure is not related to a problem in the functioning of the electronic system, then you can fix the problem without resorting to the help of a wizard.
When conducting diagnostics on your own, all actions must have a clear sequence. This is necessary in order to correctly determine the root cause of the malfunction.
Have you selected a washing program, are you trying to start the machine, but it does not want to draw water? There may be several reasons for this. Let's start with simple motives:
- Forgot to turn on the water supply to the washing machine.It is installed at the point of connection of the rubber hose from the washer to the pipeline.
- Another trivial situation - there is no water in the tap. In our country, unfortunately, this happens quite often. In order to remove this reason from the list, open the tap and check for water in the system. If there is still water, but the pressure is insufficient, then this trouble can be easily solved by installing a pump. The appliance will provide water to the washing machine for trouble-free operation.
- Clogged filter inlet valve. There must be a filter in front of the inlet valve. It looks like a very fine mesh, through which bulk particles of sand, dirt and rust, which may be present in tap water, do not pass. After a certain amount of time, it usually clogs up and water cannot flow into the washer. The filter needs to be cleaned and replaced. If water does not enter the machine, look for other reasons. Perhaps you have an additional filter in front of the inlet hose - you also need to check it for patency.
- The reason may be in the water supply hose to the machine. In order to clean it, the hose must be unscrewed from the machine and rinsed under a strong stream of water. In order to soften the dirt formed inside, the hose must be pushed well with your hands. If that doesn't work, buy a new one. Make sure that no matter how the hose is deformed - this can also be the cause of poor water flow.
The above reasons are simple, for which water does not enter the unit in the right amount.
A washing machine is a complex mechanism in which an electronic control unit is arranged, where safety plays a very important role.
- You need to check if the door of the washing machine is tightly closed. If the lock does not click into place, the machine will not turn on, therefore, water will not be drawn. If the reason is in the non-closing door, call the wizard, and he will carry out repair work to fix the problem.
- Another reason is the failure of the inlet valve. It can be single, double or even triple. If one regime draws water, others will not. In this case, each path must be carefully checked. The most common cause of valve failure is a burnt coil. She changes easily. The problem may be more complex, then you need to replace the entire valve.
- The water level sensor has failed. Each automatic machine has a water level sensor (pressure switch). It determines if there is water in the tank and its quantity.
- Failure of the programmer. If this mechanism fails, the machine will not draw water at all. This breakdown is quite serious and costly. Before deciding to replace the module, make sure that the problem is not in the above. In 90% of cases, the problem is that the machine does not take on water, lies in a clogged filter or a blocked tap for supplying water to the machine.
The reasons
There are many reasons for the failure of the washing machine, almost any unit can be responsible for the fact that the device has stopped drawing water. But most often it happens that the washing machine is in order, but it does not collect water, because there is no water in the pipeline or it is blocked. This is a simple reason, which is quite simple to eliminate.
Another reason for the failure may be that any unit is clogged due to poor-quality water.Most often, in this case, we are talking about an inlet strainer or inlet hose. Such breakdowns are also quite simple to fix on your own, without calling a specialist.

It could still be the door. When washing starts, the door is locked to prevent the user from accidentally opening it while the washing machine is running. The signal to close the door does not pass due to the fact that:
- it is not tightly closed;
- the tongue that fixes it is damaged;
- hatch hinges loosened.
Until the door is closed, the process will not start, which means that water will not flow. Usually defects and breakage of the door are detected immediately. After all, it feels like the door does not close properly.
The most difficult failure is the failure of the inlet valve or ECU (electronic control unit). The first part is responsible for supplying washing water to the tank, and the ECU regulates the operation of the inlet valve - it “tells” when to open and when to close. Therefore, if water is not collected, it is necessary to check the serviceability of these components.

Typical causes of a malfunction
If the washing machine system constantly draws water into the tank, this is an “alarm symptom” that should prompt you to take action. First you need to deal with the question, but what could potentially cause such a problem? First you need to identify a wide range of problems, and then gradually, as a result of systematic actions, narrow this circle. So, the typical causes of a malfunction:
- a new washing machine is not connected correctly;
- leaky washing machine tank;
- the water level sensor (pressure switch) has failed;
- intake valve broken
- problem with the electronic control unit.
Description of the causes of malfunctions and ways to eliminate them
If a completely new, newly connected washing machine constantly draws water into the tank, the most likely reason is that the drain hose is not connected correctly. This begs the question: why exactly the drain hose, and where does it come from? In fact, he is directly related to this problem.
If the drain system of the washing machine is not organized correctly, a “siphon effect” may occur. It can lead both to the fact that all the dirty water from the sewer will rush back into the tank, and to the fact that the water from the tank will constantly pour into the sewer by gravity. In the latter case, no matter how much the machine pumps water into the washing tank, it will immediately pour out all through the drain hose. Bottom line: high water consumption, constant operation of the heating element, poor-quality washing of things (if washing starts at all). What to do in this case?
There are two ways to eliminate the siphon effect. First, you can properly connect washing machine to sewer, lifting the sewer pipe at least half a meter from the floor. Secondly, an anti-siphon valve can be installed on the drain hose or pipe.
A leaky tank can cause the process of constantly pumping water into the washing machine. This reason is hard to miss, unless of course your car is equipped with an aqua-stop protection system. Water from a leaky tank will flow onto the floor, under the bottom of the machine, and if you look at this moment, it will lead to flooding, as the system will again and again give the command to fill the tank to the desired level.
Leak-proof washing machines are not threatened by this, because in this case the protection system will work, which blocks the flowing water and at the same time cuts off its supply. We see the elimination of such a problem either in replacing the tank or in repairing it, and it is not always possible to solder a leaky tank. Everything will depend on the material from which it is made.
If the machine constantly draws water, the reason may be a broken water level sensor. This sensor performs a very important task - it determines the water level in the tank and reports this to the electronic system of the machine. If the sensor is broken, then the system will always think that there is not enough water in the tank and it needs to be filled. A broken sensor is best replaced completely, but you can try and fix it. Usually the pressure switch breaks down:
- membrane - the gum loses its tightness and must be replaced with a new one;
- sensor contacts - you need to clean it well, but it is better to replace the contacts;
- sensor tube - if the water level sensor tube is cracked, then you will have to change the entire device, fill the cracks with sealant, it does not make much sense.
To replace the pressure switch, you need to get to it. Read more about this in the article on checking the pressure switch of the washing machine.
Another reason the fact that the “washer” constantly draws water can be an inlet valve
If this is the case, then water will flow into the tank of the washing machine around the clock and no matter what state the machine is in, on or off. Accordingly, the water consumption will greatly increase, even more water will be spent than if the pressure switch, tank or "siphon effect" became the cause of the breakdown.
The inlet valve cannot be repaired - you need to buy and install a new one.
What to do if the reason for the constant filling of water in the tank lies in the control unit of the washing machine. Experts in this regard give unequivocal advice - contact the professionals. Self-checking, repairing and testing the control unit can lead to its breakdown. In this case, expensive repairs cannot be avoided, so if you are not a good electronics master, do not do amateur work.
Complicated reasons for the lack of water in the washer
In addition to the above factors, there are a number of other reasons for the lack of water supply. Most of them can only be fixed in a professional service center.
Broken programmer or control module
Electromechanical programmers are a very complex functional unit. The main defects of the high-tech unit occur in the contact systems of the control modules, due to the ingress of a cleaning solution or water directly. Also, the cause may be a short circuit in the external circuit.
A complex defect, of course, will cause you a lot of trouble, because the device must be sent to a service center and completely replaced. If the defect is not very complex, then it can be eliminated at home. But only a qualified specialist can determine the complexity of the breakdown.
Broken water supply valve
Water is supplied to the household appliance under pressure, which is inevitably present in the water supply network. The flow is opened by means of a special shut-off valve - a valve. Its position is corrected by signals from the control module.If the inlet valve is worn, deformed, or corroded, then the washer will “physically” not be able to draw water.
Reasons for failure can be:
- Mesh filter clogged.
- Coil winding burned out.
Almost all coils are interchangeable. If the cause is a broken coil in one of the valve sections, then replace the breakage with a coil from another valve.
You can check the valves yourself without removing them from the machine. To do this, you need a power cord with contacts and a switch. The first should be in insulating covers. Procedure:
- Connect the valve inlet to a pipeline with a nominal pressure.
- Apply voltage to the winding - this should open the valve.
- Pay close attention to how quickly the valve closes after the power is turned off.
- If water is still leaking without power for some time, this indicates that the flexibility of the cuff has been lost. The part must be replaced with a new one.
Broken pressure switch
It's all about the design of the pressure switch:
- In the process of water entering the tank of the unit, the air in the lower chamber of the sensor and the hose acts on a flexible rubber membrane.
- Under air pressure, the diaphragm (membrane) bends, the tip of the pressure pad presses on the spring of the contact group.
- As soon as the desired water level in the tank has appeared, the contacts switch and turn off the power from the water supply valves - the washing machine is switched to washing mode.
- As soon as the laundry absorbs the water entering the tank, the pressure sensor will again supply power to the water supply valve - the machine will add water to the required level.
If checking the fittings, pressure and filter did not give the expected result, then seek help from qualified specialists. It is almost impossible to see what exactly is broken with the naked eye. Therefore, do not play charades with equipment, because self-repair can often lead to more serious, and therefore more expensive in terms of elimination, breakdowns.
