What prolongs and what reduces the service life?
The life of the plate will depend not only on the materials used, but also on a number of the following factors:
the stove should not be in a room with high humidity; in damp rooms, metal and other parts deteriorate faster;
in case of malfunctions, immediately call the master, and do not use the electrical appliance until it breaks down completely;
at the end of the service life, annually call the master to diagnose the operation of the stove and replace the necessary parts;
regularly wash the stove after cooking, as the nozzles can become clogged over time and their service life will be noticeably reduced;
do not pour detergent onto the burners, as a chemical reaction may take place, ignition and other elements may oxidize and work either incorrectly or stop working altogether;
if the gas is of poor quality, then it is necessary to periodically clean the nozzles, since this will affect their service life, and the dishes will not be so covered with soot;
operation in compliance with the advice on the use of the plate will extend the service life;
it is necessary to ensure that the oven doors close tightly, because this is very important when the oven is operating and affects its service life;
do not unplug the stove from the outlet if the thermoelectric protection system is triggered, blocking the gas supply in the absence of fire - this is life threatening; you should call the master for repair;
each burner is designed for an average of 11,000 transitions, after which it must be replaced without fail; if at least one burner handle does not work, the use of the stove is prohibited;
the integrity of the hose supplying gas to the stove should be monitored; in normal use, its service life is 20 years, but if scuffs or other damage to its integrity appear, it must be replaced.

Replacing obsolete gas equipment is a necessary safety condition!
Replacing obsolete gas equipment is a necessary safety condition!
The average life of gas appliances in accordance with the passports of manufacturers is 10 years. At the same time, obsolete and obsolete gas equipment cannot ensure reliable trouble-free operation and efficient use of natural gas.
If you operate worn-out, non-repairable gas equipment, you put yourself in danger.
Maintenance of the gas stove should be carried out at least once every three years. And after the expiration of its service life and a satisfactory condition, maintenance is carried out at least once a year, which incurs additional costs for the subscriber during its operation.
Gazprom Gas Distribution Arkhangelsk LLC strongly recommends that you, before the scheduled maintenance deadline, replace the gas stove that has worked out the standard operating life established by the manufacturer. After the expiration of the standard service life of the in-house gas equipment, LLC
Gazprom Gas Distribution Arkhangelsk has the right to suspend gas supply in accordance with paragraph 80 of the Rules for the use of gas in terms of ensuring safety when using and maintaining in-house and in-house gas equipment when providing utility services for gas supply, approved by the Decree Government of the Russian Federation from 14.05.2013 № 410.
LLC Gazprom Gas Distribution Arkhangelsk once again reminds of the need to comply with the requirements of the rules for the safe use of gas in everyday life when operating gas appliances.

The life of the gas stove and consumer rights under the law
A gas stove is a useful product that makes life easier for a significant part of the population.Meanwhile, this product uses flammable gas. Therefore, any defect or malfunction associated with a gas stove can lead to tragic results. You should figure out what is the life of the gas stove.
How long can gas stoves be used
The service life of such devices depends on the specific manufacturer.
In this case, you need to pay attention to three parameters:
- information provided by the manufacturer.
- Regulatory data according to GOST.
- The maximum allowable service life of the product (also according to GOST).
The first parameter directly depends on the manufacturer. In most cases, the permissible operating time declared by manufacturers does not exceed ten years. Sometimes there are guarantees for 12-13 years, but no more. However, the fact that the company that produced the device sets such time intervals does not mean that the device will break as soon as ten years have passed.
In accordance with GOST, the average service life of gas stoves is 14 years. This is the period of time during which a citizen can use the device without its diagnostics and repair. After fourteen years, the device is sent for diagnostics and, if necessary, repair. In the future, the device must be serviced at least once a year.
But even if the annual diagnostics do not detect problems in the gas stove, the device cannot be used for more than twenty years in a row. This is the last period of operation of one product, after which it must be replaced with a new device (without fail, regardless of the condition of the old one). Usually, this action is given six months.

We advise you to familiarize yourself with how to return household appliances to the store.
Are manufacturers of gas stoves obliged to set their service life?
Current legislation does not always require manufacturers to establish the service life of the products they produce.
This rule applies only to devices that are intended for long-term use. Moreover, this must be done if, after the expiration date, the product can:
- Harm the citizens using it, lead to death.
- Cause damage to the property of the owner of the product or the environment.
In all other cases, the manufacturer is not obliged to set the service life of the devices.
To understand whether this information should be indicated in relation to gas stoves (and any other devices), you need to read Government Decree number 720. It clearly states that this period is set for gas household appliances. The stove is one such device.
Deadline not specified - what to do
In some cases, such information cannot be found. This is due to the fact that, despite the aforementioned regulation, not all manufacturers adhere to it. A citizen should know that if neither the manufacturer nor the seller sets this parameter, the norms of the law come into force.
In accordance with consumer legislation, in the absence of such information from the manufacturer, a citizen has the right to service the device for ten years.
consumer rights
The maximum allowable service life of a gas-powered product is set for a reason. During this period of time, the citizen using the device has certain rights.
These include the right to:
- Obtaining material and moral compensation from the supplier if the device has harmed a citizen or his property.
- Providing free repair services if the breakdown is due to a marriage, and not to user actions.
- Safe use of the device, obtaining maintenance.
The equipment must work normally throughout the entire period of time specified by the manufacturer or prescribed by law. This is an inalienable right of any consumer.
If the seller or manufacturer refuses to fulfill the obligations imposed on them by law, the citizen has the right to protect his consumer rights, including in court.
It is important to know how the maintenance of gas equipment is carried out
Service life of a gas stove

A gas stove is not only an indispensable thing in the house that allows you to cook various dishes, but also a source of increased danger.
Gas equipment should be operated with extreme caution, in compliance with existing standards. The service life of the gas stove is limited, using the equipment after it is not only not advisable, but also extremely dangerous
The service life of this plant is determined not only by the total number of years, but also by proper operation and regular maintenance.
The shelf life of domestic gas stoves is determined by GOST. In Soviet times, it was established by GOST 10798-85.This standard stated that the average operating time of this equipment was considered to be 4 years. These standards were revised in 1994, when the new GOST R 50696-94 was released.
The developers of the new document analyzed information about the operation of modern gas equipment and its wear rate and increased the service life several times at once. The working time was extended to 14 years. In 2006, the document was again revised and finalized, as a result of which a new GOST R 50696-2006 was born.
He, unlike the previous ones, does not prescribe the deadlines for operation, because they do not depend on how many years the stove has stood after the purchase, but also on how often it has been used. On average, this equipment works for 20 years.
There are established standards for determining the final service life of each individual plate by external signs.
Who sets the deadlines
On June 16, 1997, Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 720 was adopted, which provides a list of durable goods that pose a danger to life after a certain period.
This document lists the types of products and components for which the manufacturer is obliged to set expiration dates, since after it expires these goods can harm the health and life of people, as well as the environment.
The List, among other things, includes the item “household gas equipment”.
When buying a gas stove, you should pay attention to the expiration dates given by the manufacturer. Often they do not exceed 10-15 years, but it should not be assumed that with their end, the installation itself should be hastily thrown away.
A specialist who assesses the operating condition of the installations can confirm the possibility of further operation.
Maintenance
Cookers have a finite lifespan and overuse is dangerous, so regular maintenance must be performed. Of course, the lion's share of responsibility lies with the owners of gas appliances
The final period of the plate’s service life depends on them, because it can fail much earlier than the specified time, if handled carelessly
The owner of the apartment where the gas stove is installed is obliged to monitor:
- The correct operation of the burners.
- Density of closing the oven.
- The integrity of the gas hose connecting the unit to the liquid fuel supply pipe.
- The performance of the gas leakage protection system.
Within the limits of the guarantee established by the documents, the owner conducts visual inspections of the equipment and, in case of the slightest malfunction, must call the master.
After the expiration date, maintenance should be carried out once a year. Based on its results, the master gives an opinion on the possibility of further use of the gas stove or its replacement.
Who is servicing
Before the collapse of the USSR, maintenance of gas equipment was a mandatory measure, which was assigned to locksmiths of gas distribution organizations. The cost of their work was included in the price of utilities, and therefore there were no problems with maintenance.
But the new economic era has made significant adjustments in all areas, the periodic inspection and repair of installations was excluded from the price of household gas.
Until 2008, there was complete confusion in this area, many companies appeared that were not responsible either for the professionalism of the staff or for the quality of service.
The adopted legislative acts helped to change the situation:
- Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 549 dated July 21, 2008, which approved the "Rules for the supply of gas to meet the domestic needs of citizens."
When is the plate to be replaced?
Technological progress does not stand still. This also applies to the improvement of gas technology. Nevertheless, the device represents a potential danger and it cannot be eternal.
A new installation is inevitable when:
- The expiration date with all extensions after diagnostics is 4 years and two by three.
- The appearance of burnouts of the oven and panel.
- Loss of tightness (the smell of gas is constantly felt).
- Fatal play of taps and handles.
- The absence of a plate with the year of manufacture on the back wall. The gas service will definitely require this to be done, regardless of the appearance of the stove.
- When models with better performance and safer models appear in the retail network. If, of course, the budget allows.
First of all, we must remember that we use a resource of increased danger - gas. Blue fuel brings comfort, but can also lead to tragedy. Only compliance with the rules and regulations of operation will significantly reduce the danger and protect against unpredictable consequences.
How long can gas stoves from different manufacturers be used? Device life

The operation of any appliance is limited by its service life, gas stoves are no exception. This is due to the obvious security requirements. Some breakdowns can be noticed by an ordinary user, while others can only be determined by a specialist.In this article, we will analyze when the old stove needs to be replaced with a new one, and what the legislation of the Russian Federation says about this.

The service life of the device in the Russian Federation according to GOST
Since Soviet times, the operating times of various devices have been regulated by GOST. For gas stoves in 1994, GOST R 50696-94 was established. Its paragraph 5.26 specifies an average service life of 14 years. Criteria for the limiting state: burnout of the oven, the operating time of each tap must be at least 11,000 cycles or until the tightness is broken.
In 2006, it was revised and replaced by GOST 50696-2006. The latter does not set deadlines for the operation of gas equipment, because this indicator depends on the frequency of use, and not just on the time of purchase. The current GOST for gas stoves is GOST 33998-2016.
The period of operation is set by the manufacturer and is usually 10-15 years.
If your stove has lasted the time specified in the data sheet, the gas company must carry out maintenance. Based on the results, the user replaces the equipment or receives permission from a specialist to continue operation.
The manufacturer is obliged to indicate the service life of durable goods in accordance with Government Decree No. 720 of June 16, 1997, as amended in 2001. At the same time, the “warranty period” is only the time during which you can get free service, it differs from the operational period.

What is the shelf life of devices from different manufacturers?
Before purchasing a stove, you should refer to the instruction manual, which is often available online. You can consult with the manager, the seller in the store or the gas workers.
Different manufacturers determine the terms in different ways, on average it is about 15-20 years. Consider some common brands of gas stoves.
Darina
Domestic company assembles equipment at Chaikovsky gas equipment factory. It confidently occupies the segment of budget solutions for the kitchen on the market. The operating time is not defined, but detailed instructions include all the necessary safety requirements, a list of possible breakdowns, indicating what work can only be carried out by a service company.
The Italian company manufactures its products in Europe, so the buyer often chooses it. The Indesit company is attracted by quality, reliability and affordable prices. The service life is not set.
Gefest
The brand is produced in Belarus, has earned popularity among domestic consumers for its budget and ease of use. The manufacturer determines the service life of their stoves at 10 years, after which it is necessary to contact the gas company to determine the possibility of further operation.
What determines the operating time?
First of all, the quality of the materials from which it is assembled affects. This indicator entirely depends on the manufacturer, so when choosing, you can focus on the experience of other consumers.
Important! Careful handling and care will extend the life of any equipment.
- Problems can arise at the joints if the flexible gas hose is made of poor quality rubber.
- Faucets are a common place for breakdowns, especially if they are made of cheap plastic and do not hold well.
- In cheap stoves, the electric ignition system, which quickly fails, is under attack.
- Careless handling, constant contamination of the surface and burners will reduce the operating time of the equipment.
- Premature spoilage will result from the use of unsuitable sized dishes, inaccurate use of the oven.
- Falling heavy objects on enamel or hitting glass are also negative factors.
Regular checks of gas stoves allow you to identify the problem in time and prevent subsequent expensive repairs or even tragedy. Government Resolution No. 549 of July 21, 2008 and Order of the Ministry of Regional Development No. 239 of June 26, 2009 indicate that it is the consumer who is responsible for the operation and repair of his equipment.
Check and replacement
The frequency of checks also depends on the specific meter model. In most cases, this procedure should be carried out once every eight years. It looks like this:
- Calling a specialist (usually the receipts contain a notification that the time has come to check).
- Replacing the old meter with a service company device (the new device is installed at the time of the old one being checked).
- Checking the dismantled product.
- Issuance of a conclusion based on the results of the test, which will indicate whether it is possible to continue to use this device.
If the conclusion indicates that the device can be used, it will be installed in place. Otherwise, an act is drawn up in which information is written about the impossibility of further use of the meter.It is provided to the owner, who will have to replace the meter.
If replacement of the meter in the MKD (located in the basement of the building) is required, the municipal services are fully responsible for the process.
Residents of the house do not need to spend money on the procedure. If we are talking about replacing an in-house device or an apparatus located in a private house, the responsibility for the replacement lies with the owner of the home.
In this case, the citizen must apply to the gas service, with which he has signed an agreement, with a corresponding request. In this case, you must specify the time and date of replacement.
You must first purchase the device itself. It is desirable that it be the same model as the previous product. If a similar product is not available on the market, you should contact the gas service staff to pick up a new device.
At the appointed time, an employee of the company with which the citizen has an agreement will perform the necessary work. After their completion, the device must be sealed. This can happen within no more than five days from the date of installation. Before installing the device, a preliminary check of the serviceability of the device is carried out.
What to do if the counter is broken?

It is almost impossible to do without breakdowns, which can manifest themselves as follows:
- readings do not change or there is a small leak at the attachment point;
- digital values are not displayed at all or their partial display takes place (for electronic devices).
In such situations, the importance of maintaining the integrity of the seal is manifested. If it is violated, an appropriate act is drawn up.
Based on this act, the user must pay for the past six months in accordance with the standards applicable to premises without measuring and accounting equipment.
The same sanctions apply for concealing a malfunction of gas equipment, if a malfunction is detected during a scheduled inspection, even despite the safety of the seal.
Find out from our article who is responsible for replacing the electricity meter.
The subscriber is notified of the recalculation no later than 30 days later.

If everything is in order with the seal, and the malfunction is detected by the owner of the housing, the specialist fixes the fact of the breakdown.
The calculation according to the standards in such a situation will be applied only for the time of the actual absence of the meter - from the date the malfunction was detected to the date of replacement.

Operating time of residential MKD of various types of buildings
Residential buildings are allowed to operate from 50 to 150 years, depending on the type of structure.
| Building type | Construction time, year | Service life according to GOST | Demolition norms, year |
| "Stalin" before the war | 1930-40 | 120 years | 2050-70 |
| "Stalin" of the post-war period | 1945-55 | 150 years | 2095-2105 |
| "Khrushchev" | 1955-70 | 50 years | 2005-20 |
| Brick 5-storey | 1955-70 | 100 years | 2055-70 |
| Houses from panels and blocks of 5-16 floors | 1965-80 | 100 years | 2055-80 |
| Houses built in the late and post-Soviet period of brick | 1980-98 | Up to 150 years old | 2105-150 |
| Modern panel buildings | 1980 - s.d. | Up to 120 years old | 2070-2105 |
Panel houses
- Khrushchev.Their shelf life is the shortest. These houses are designed for no more than 50 years of operation.
- Block. Their term is also no more than 50 years, if proper maintenance and timely restoration of its components were applied.
- Modern panel MKD. They can stand for 120 years. But they do not have strong differences from the main parameters of their predecessors.
Brick, monolithic Khrushchev
Attention. Brick five-story buildings or monolithic (Khrushchev) can stand up to 100 years
However, today most of these buildings should be demolished after 40 years.
What prolongs the life of the plate
In fact, performance depends not only on quality parts, but also on the elementary fulfillment of simple requirements:
- allow gas service workers to the device in a timely manner;
- exclude the content in rooms with high humidity;
- call the master in case of any malfunctions;
- do not allow aggressive detergents to enter the nozzles of the burners;
- make sure that the power handles work smoothly and without jamming;
- oven doors must close tightly;
- when the electrical thermal protection is triggered (blocks the gas supply when the burner is off), do not unplug the device from the outlet;
- check the hose.
Can I make a replacement myself?
Let's assume that you don't have time to wait for the gasmen or you don't want to pay for the installation. Many apartment owners make the mistake of changing the device on their own.
According to Art. 7.19 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, in this case you will be fined as for unauthorized connection to the gas main, not a lot and not a little - 10-15 thousand rubles.
Also, PP No. 410 states that such a replacement can only be carried out by a company that has a license to carry out such work, by specialists with a permit, and that unauthorized connection threatens to be disconnected from the gas supply network.
After disconnecting from the gas supply network, remove the plug and reconnect, the procedure is not free. The cost varies from 6 thousand rubles for the service. You will also need to pay a fine
And why take the risk, such work is inexpensive, and upon completion you will receive an official permit to operate the equipment.
