Water supply from a well with a submersible pump
Water supply from a well with the use of automatic submersible pumps has long gained the greatest popularity among consumers.Extremely simple in design, unpretentious, reliable and durable in operation, centrifugal submersible pumps take in water with propeller blades that create centrifugal pressure, which lifts it.
A typical variant of water supply from a well with a depth of 10 rings using a submersible pump, at a distance of 5 meters from the house.

Scheme of water supply from a well with cost calculation
Water supply from a well with a submersible pump
Equipped with a solenoid valve for draining, the water supply system from the well is unpretentious and easy to operate. An automatic pressure regulation system and equipment properly selected by our specialists provide our customers with convenience and comfort similar to centralized water supply systems.

Schematic diagram of the plumbing
Submersible pumps practically do not require additional equipment, and operate automatically, responding to the opening and closing of the water supply at each draw-off point. They are not affected by pressure drops in the system, they are equipped with their own filtration system, they are small in size and relatively low cost. In order to avoid freezing during the cold season, a heating electric cable is used.
Installation of pumping stations
Water supply from a well using pumping stations is widely applicable when the distance to the water surface is not more than 8 meters. Combining a hydraulic pump, a membrane storage tank and automation, the pumping station is a complete technological unit for taking and supplying water from a drinking well.

Options for placing pumping stations can be a special caisson, a separate room inside the building, or a combined installation.
By pumping water into the accumulator until the required pressure is formed, the pumping station operates in the cyclic on-off mode to maintain a constant volume of water in the system.

Schematic diagram of the installation of a pumping station
Being superficial in terms of water intake, the hydraulic pump imposes its own requirements for the installation of the suction pipeline, the diameter of which must not be less than 32 mm, must always exceed the diameter of the discharge pipeline, and have a slope of 1 degree in relation to the water intake. Errors in the calculation of the length and installation of the suction water supply can lead to increased cavitation and failure of the pumping station. The distance to the bottom of the well, in this case, must be at least 25-30 cm in order to avoid suction of sand, and the lower end of the suction pipeline must be equipped with a strainer and a check valve.
The procedure for drawing up estimates for the repair of external water supply

The procedure for repairing an external water supply system has its own characteristics. Also, a slightly different estimate is made for the work and the purchase of the necessary materials.
The major repairs of the external water supply include the following works:
- Laying new outdoor water supply networks, as well as replacing old ones.
- Drilling wells of various depths.
- Digging wells and trenches using large equipment.
- Insulation of external plumbing systems.
The final price of the estimate is also affected by the features of the repair. These include difficult soil types, large volumes of work, weather conditions. In addition to the large volume, the overall complexity of the repair is taken into account.Taking into account the above factors allows you to optimize the estimate, correctly adjust its conditions for the customer and the contractor.
It may also indicate the costs of the need to maintain a service that will eliminate emergencies.
Water supply cost
The most expensive water supply option for a private house is an autonomous source. This is the name of the artesian well. But, as practice shows, such an investment is fully justified, because you get an unlimited supply of water with simple access.
This property is provided by a constant pressure in the well, which makes it possible for the liquid to flow outward without the use of additional devices.
The cost of a well increases due to:
- Drilling works;
- Registration required.
Such costs can cost at least 100 thousand rubles.
For wiring inside the premises, direct costs will depend on which technical project will be drawn up. In addition, all work must be left to professionals if there are no relevant skills.
Calculation of repair of water supply systems in a private house

When repairing water supply systems in a private house, an adjustment is made for lower volumes of work. But the estimate may provide for the installation of additional automatic equipment. This type of work has a higher pricing policy.
When laying a new pipeline, a calculation should be made with a minimum number of corners, as well as system bends. For pipes of a private house, it is necessary to select environmentally friendly materials with a long service life that do not react to the action of aggressive compounds.
Installation of pumps in a private house belongs to the section of installation of equipment for water supply systems. This type of work does not require a lot of time. But it is necessary to correctly follow the sequence indicated in the instruction manual in order to preserve the warranty service.
Drilling wells and digging trenches can be carried out both with large-sized equipment and manually. In addition to the well, the installation of a pump and an additional filtration system can be included in the estimate.
Installation of a new water supply system must be carried out in accordance with all regulatory documentation. A separate item in the estimate indicates the payment of working personnel. Only after certification of the estimate by the customer, the contractor can proceed with the repair work.
Connection options
Connecting to the city network
It can cost not only financial costs, but also a long paperwork, which is not the best option for many residents. To do this, it is necessary to perform a series of actions in a certain order, observing the requirements of the law, with the involvement of specialized organizations.
The cost of introducing a water pipe into a house depends on a number of conditions: the development of a water supply project, obtaining technical specifications, types of pipes, a water flow meter, earthworks and their complexity, laying a main (depending on length), a procedure for cutting into a water pipe, regional tariffs, open cut backfilling.
Well water
The best option for water supply to a summer house is a well, including a storage tank and a pump. The cost of work on the installation of the well depends on the depth and methods of finishing and ranges from five thousand.This also includes the cost of a pumping station, the price of which will vary from the power of the pump. The amount of the storage capacity depends on the volume and the material being produced.
Carrying out autonomy
The best option and at the same time the most expensive way to supply water at home would be an autonomous source. However, this makes it possible to use an inexhaustible supply of water. Moreover, water will flow without the use of a pump, since the pressure of water from the wellhead “pushes” it out.
The price of services will depend on this method of obtaining a water resource from registering a well and drilling to a greater depth (from 35 to 200 meters or more).
Up to 35 meters
A well at a depth of up to 35 meters is a cheaper option. In this case, water comes from sandy horizons, so it is necessary to install filters at the pumping station.
Deeper than 35 meters
When the sandy horizon is deeper than 35 meters, an artesian well is already being drilled. However, if rocks lie in the area, then drilling is not carried out. Another disadvantage is that if water is produced from a well in a neighboring area, it is not a fact that drilling in another area will give a positive result. However, the use of such water is possible for many years, unlike wells, where water resources can end on average in 7 years.
The main elements of the plumbing system
The plumbing consists of the following elements:
- A HDPE pipe is laid from the source of water supply to the house. It is laid underground. The depth of the trench depends on the degree of soil freezing in a given region;
- Either a submersible pump is installed in the well / well, or a pumping station is installed at the entrance to the building. The device must be provided with a check valve that prevents the movement of water from the house;
- The pipe is brought to the filter or filtration system, where the water is purified from impurities;
- Next, a hydraulic accumulator (expansion tank) and a water heater are mounted;
- Then the water is distributed to the points of consumption, separately hot, separately cold.
Benefits of central water supply
Benefits when connected to a central water supply:
- you will get rid of significant financial costs for pumping equipment (it costs more than two pennies!);
- drilling, pumping and maintaining a well in working condition is also money, time and worries;
- centralized water supply is a type of activity with a certificate, which guarantees you an uninterrupted supply of water, maintaining (without your efforts) normal pressure in the pipes and drinking water quality.

You can bring water to a private house by the hands of specialists (but these are financial costs) or by your own, the choice is yours.
Issue price
The cost of the entire complex for external water supply depends on many factors, including the following:
- track length;
- pipe material;
- laying depth - the volume of excavation depends on it;
- local rates, etc.
The order of the numbers is:
- water supply project - 5 thousand rubles;
- getting those. conditions - 4-5 thousand rubles;
- approvals - 12 thousand rubles;
- the cost of pipes, water meter, components - 5-10 thousand rubles.
- tie-in with a fee for connecting to the network - 15 - 50 thousand rubles;
- excavator work - 5-10 thousand rubles;
- network laying (in the complex) - 1.7 - 2.6 thousand per 1 pm.
Tariffs for water supply by region vary greatly, and in addition to the cost of the tie-in itself, they also charge a tariff rate for the length of the water supply network. Depending on the climate zone, it will also be necessary to provide for thermal insulation measures, and this applies to both entering the house and exiting the well, and the pipeline itself with water supply equipment. Backfilling of trenches is usually done with sand (partially or completely), and this is another plus to the total amount.
The cost of putting the gas pipeline into operation
The actual construction of gas communications on the site does not mean the end of costs. The gas pipeline still needs to be put into operation, otherwise it cannot be used.
For the delivery of the gas pipeline at the site, the following is required:
- control and executive survey (preparation, registration) - 15,000-35,000 rubles. The shorter the gas pipeline, the cheaper the CIS;
- inspection of ventilation ducts and chimneys in the form of an act - approximately 5,000 rubles;
- grounding the boiler (protocol and circuit sketch) - about 5,000 rubles;
- examination of insulating joints in the form of an act - 7,000 rubles. for each;
- verification of executive and technical documentation - 4,000 rubles;
- calling Mosoblgaz inspectors - approximately 3,000 rubles;
- preparation of a gas inlet service agreement - up to 2,000 rubles;
- re-approval of the project will cost a maximum of 4,000 rubles.
At the end of the work on the operational commissioning of the gas pipeline, it is necessary to issue executive and technical documentation at the RES of the local gas service, sign it at the gas management trust and submit it to the archive.
Next, make an entry for the gas tie-in and the initial start-up. For the Moscow region, the costs of ITD and the launch of the gas pipeline will amount to about 35,000-5,000 rubles.
Water supply operation
- After checking the performance of all nodes, you need to make several test runs of your pumping station. And it should be turned on with a minimum load.
- Do not forget that at the beginning of taking water from a home well, it can be quite cloudy, and it must be given several hours to clean.
- It is necessary to adjust the output of the pump so that it coincides with the calculated output of the aquifer.
- When operating the pumping station, try to avoid short-term switching on in order to prolong the life of the pump.
- Annual scheduled inspection and check of the technical part (filters, tanks, pump and the caisson itself).
Transfer of executive and technical papers and execution of a contract for water supply
11 As soon as the above steps are completed, we go to the local water utility and give the employees of the organization executive and technical papers regarding the work done to connect a private house or an entire street. Documents must be drawn up taking into account the requirements prescribed in the SNiP. A topographic survey of the structure on a scale of 1 to 500 will also be required. After studying the papers, the authorized body gives permission to connect a private house to the central networks. Immediately after this, the connection is made, and the corresponding act is drawn up.
According to the procedure in force in the Russian Federation, the last stage is the execution of an agreement for the transfer of drinking water. These powers also lie in the local water utility. In this case, it is better to clarify the work schedule and reception days in advance.
What is the cost of installing water supply
Professional installation of water supply and sewerage systems, high-quality installation of sanitary equipment provide comfortable living conditions in the house. Installation activities are carried out in stages:
- drawing up a plan - schemes of engineering communications;
- estimates: consumption of materials and a list of services;
- direct installation;
- hydraulic or pneumatic testing of systems.
The installation of communications is a laborious process and requires that the work be carried out by experienced specialists.

With a small error in miscalculations and installation, problems can subsequently arise, ranging from regular blockage and leakage of pipelines, to the unsuitability of the operation of the entire engineering system.
The cost of services depends on the volume of installation work for a specific order and is calculated individually based on the following criteria:
- the complexity of the scheme for installing water supply and sewerage;
- cost of materials and equipment;
- feature of connected devices.
The total cost of installation work is easy to control by calculation (estimate) including a clear breakdown into separate positions for work and materials.
What does the cost depend on?

And one of the key factors is the water supply in the house. The 21st century is marching around the world, which means that “conveniences on the street” and trips for water to the well are a thing of the past.
The cost depends on which source to choose:
- Main system.
- Well.
- Offline source.
The main water supply is not such a good option as it might seem:
- Unequal availability.
- Insufficient quality of services, for example, low water pressure in the house.
- The connection will turn into paperwork.
- Vodokanal's design service is paid separately (the price may vary from 20 thousand rubles, the amount depends on the region of residence).
It will be much cheaper to conduct a well to a private house, including a battery tank and a pumping station. How much it will cost depends on the depth of the layer and the finishing materials. Spending can be from 5 thousand rubles, installation and consumables are included.
In addition, it is possible to conduct water in this way without using a pump. Constant pressure in the well causes the fluid to flow to the surface without the use of additional devices.
The cost of a well will be expensive due to the need to register it and drill it to an impressive depth. All works together will cost from 100 thousand rubles and more.
The direct costs of wiring the premises inside a private house depend on the technical design drawn up by specialists. It is also better to entrust all work to professionals.
Real cost
It is necessary to deal with the question in more detail: how much does it cost to conduct water and sewerage to a private house today? As mentioned earlier, the consumer will have to develop and agree on a project for these activities. To do this, you need to allocate four or five thousand rubles. Of course, this amount is not included in the official cost of the service, but this investment will help to complete the project as soon as possible.
After receiving the agreed documentation, you need to draw up a resolution that allows you to insert the user's pipe into the central water pipe.To do this, you should apply for official permission, which will lead to a long consideration of the issue. How much does such a procedure cost? In different regions, the tie-in into the pipe will result in about 5-10 thousand. The total cost also includes the following services:
- the cost of all pipes;
- price for labor of workers;
- expendable materials.
It is impossible to answer the question of how much it costs to bring water to a private house, if you do not take into account the services of workers. How much does an electrician and gasman cost? Here the price tag is different for each region. Usually the total check for the work of builders is about 10-20 thousand. In the process, various problems and difficulties may arise, which only a true professional who knows his business can fix. And, of course, a lot depends on the site and the type of soil. Another 3,000 rubles will be required to solve such difficulties.
Having carefully calculated the preliminary cost, it becomes clear that it costs up to 50 thousand to conduct water and sewerage to the house. To be sure, you should have this amount in reserve and a couple of thousand rubles on top.
The sequence of work
The easiest way is to order the organization of the water supply directly from the employees of the city water canal, but this can also be done in other licensed organizations. Connection is carried out in the following order:
-
Choice of connection method to the trunk. Most often, the simplest option is used - laying clamps on steel or plastic pipes. Additional tools are also used, because the water in the pipes is under pressure.
- Choice of pipeline material. A suitable material for pipes from the point of intake to the house is determined - lightweight, durable, corrosion-resistant low-pressure polyethylene (HDPE).
- Installation of metering devices, purchase of fittings.These are the main elements for connecting the house to the highway.
- Creation of a well from concrete. At the tie-in place, a concrete well is made of rings, and next to the house - a hole of the required depth to bring water into the house.
- Creation of a trench. With the help of equipment, they dig the desired depth of the trench, lay the HDPE pipeline and fill it with sand to create a sand cushion, it is possible to use thermal insulation.
- Connecting elements. Through the fittings, the pipe is connected to the main line together with a stopcock and a meter.
After these steps, water is supplied to the house. In the house, the pipeline is bred in series or in parallel.
Types of water supply from the well to the house
There are two options for supplying water from a well, depending on the method of water intake, carried out:
a) With the help of a submersible electric pump installed in the well itself;b) Due to the operation of the pumping station, which is a surface pump combined with a hydraulic accumulator, and located either in a caisson additionally equipped next to the well, or inside the house;

* Typical options for water supply from a well
The presented scheme of the water supply from the well clearly shows the fundamental difference between the equipment used and the associated differences in installation. If in the first option (image on the left) the pumping station taking water from the well requires a special caisson for its own placement, then in cases where water is supplied from the well by a submersible pump, the accumulator and automation are installed directly in the house.
There is a third option, not shown in the diagram, when the pumping station is installed indoors.In this case, you can avoid additional spending on caisson equipment, but you will have to give up additional useful space inside the building.
In addition, the pumping station installed in the house, in order to save on equipment and installation work, will create constant additional noise, and will not harm the comfort of people only while being in technical rooms. At the same time, it should be taken into account that the capacity of the pumping stations existing today makes it possible to draw water from wells with a depth of no more than 8 meters.

Pipe laying methods
Installation of the water supply system can be carried out in two ways: in series or using a collector.
When connected in series, one water pipe is installed, from which branches are diverted to consumption points. For this, triplets are used. This system is less expensive and can be installed faster. Its disadvantage is that with a large amount of consumption, the pressure in the system is significantly reduced. Therefore, a sequential scheme is recommended for use in small houses where up to 6 people live.
The second type of water supply provides for the presence of a single collector, from which a separate pipe is diverted to each point of consumption. In this case, a good water pressure is ensured on all plumbing fixtures. The disadvantage is that installation is much more expensive, since it requires a large number of pipes, components and labor during installation.
Stage number 4: turn on the power supply and conduct a test
To check how well the connections are made, whether the pipeline is reliable, how the water flows and what pressure, you need to turn on the power supply, and also complete the installation (put panel glass).
The end result is a shower cabin that is even horizontally and vertically, all retractable mechanisms work, the tray is located so that water from it will not drain onto the floor, etc.
Electrical wiring is performed due to the fact that the functions of a shower cabin have long been not determined only by machinations with water. And modern models are powered by a lot of electricity. For wiring, a three-core cable with sufficient cross-section and grounding is ideal.
After wiring the electricity, check the well-established water inflow and outflow of the shower cabin. Make sure that the water supply from the well (Zelenograd) fully provides the shower room with all its functions.
Drafting a project
To obtain a permit for land work for a water supply system, it is required to draw up a site project. This may be necessary if major repairs are being made to the premises or for newly installed buildings.To obtain such project documentation, you can contact private architectural offices or relevant specialists in the company that owns the water supply network.
In the process of compiling, it is required to provide the current number of people living on the site, as well as the layout of sanitary facilities and household appliances that are connected to the water supply. If there are additional sources of water on the site, then they are also indicated. You will also need a plan of the house, a topographic survey of the site, the type of plumbing that is used and a list of restrictions on the use of plumbing.
With the help of the finished project, you can understand the layout of the pipes, the size and material from which they are made, the thickness of the concrete screed if the plumbing is built into the wall or floor, as well as the required amount of material for installation and additional means for pumping water (if the pressure is insufficient).
Video description
This video shows an example of a water supply plan:
The applicant must receive from the construction organization a package of documents, which includes:
- The title page, which displays general data and there is an explanatory note.
- Plan-scheme, which shows the location of the main water supply line.
- A piping layout that shows all the nodes and points where the fastener is located.
- Volumetric scheme of plumbing and heating elements.
- List of used materials for installation and wiring, as well as what they are made of.
Without this scheme, it will be difficult to calculate the amount of water consumed and the correct location of the outlet to the main supply line.
Specification example
Contract clauses
In order to obtain permission to commission a water supply system or conduct a new supply line to the site, it is required to draw up an agreement with the water utility. This cannot be done without obtaining all the permissions that are described above. The clauses of the contract with the water supply company should list:
- Drawing up an agreement on the required connection conditions.
- The amount of time the applicant will receive water supply.
- The quality of the water received and the procedure for monitoring this parameter.
- List of conditions under which a short-term shutdown of water supply can be carried out.
- Water meter.
- Terms and conditions under which payments for the use of the common network will be made.
- List of items showing the division of responsibility for the use of the water utility between the consumer and the supplier.
- Rights and obligations that both parties must fulfill, as well as punishment for their violation.
- In what order will disputes between the supplier and the consumer be resolved?
- Permission to collect samples and access to meters for representatives of the supplier company.
An example of a water connection agreement
- When and how the user will submit data from the counter, if it is installed.
- How the user will be informed if the service provider transfers its rights to another organization.
- The conditions under which water will be supplied to those who are connected to the applicant's water supply, if contractual obligations have been drawn up with the supplier company.
After installing all the pipes and water supply units, it is required to draw up an act on the work performed, which the applicant must sign. If hidden work was done during the installation process, then a separate form is needed for them.They can be carried out during the laying of the pipeline. It is also required to draw up an SES act when flushing pipes and checking water quality for compliance with standards.
An example of a contract for connection to the sewer
Briefly about the main
Before submitting an application that will allow the signing of a contract with a company supplying water supply services, it is required to make a project of the site with a list of all equipment that consumes water and a topographic map.
Self-connection and laying of water supply must be officially authorized by the relevant services, otherwise an administrative penalty will be received.
Connection to the public water supply network may not be necessary if it is possible to install a personal well, well and septic tank.
The documents
The owner of the site, the one who has a power of attorney from him or the service with which he has concluded an agreement, can submit an application for drawing up a contract for work, connecting water or changing supplies. To obtain permission to connect to a neighbor's water supply (the sample documents are similar to the usual ones) or a common supply network, you need:
- For individuals, it is necessary to collect details, in the form of a postal address of the place of registration or residence, full name, identity confirmation document and data for further communication with the applicant.
- Legal entities and private enterprises must provide their number in the State Register and the date it was entered, TIN, current address of residence with place of residence and postal code, as well as confirmation from the bank, which gives permission that the applicant can sign the contract.
- The application must indicate the name and location of the site or facility that you want to connect to the network.
- Attach to the package of documents data on additional sources of water supply (volume and owner).
An example of an application with a list of attached documents
- If there are no additional septic tanks (cesspools, treatment plants) on the site, and standards are established for waste disposal through sewers, then it is required to indicate the properties of these restrictions and the number of changes in the volume of network use per year.
- You must provide a copy of the site plan, which has a sewerage scheme, a display of all constructed objects and their characteristics, as well as a list of residents.
- Information should be provided on what kind of activities are taking place on the site. This is necessary for carrying out normalized spillways.
It is also required to attach to the list of documents for the application:
- Copies of all concluded contracts for connection to the public network.
- Copies of documents that are made when connecting, flushing, as well as cleaning the line and equipment in a designated area or indoors.
- A copy of papers for measuring instruments (meters) to check these devices for compliance with state standards, their installation scheme and indications at the time of application. If the water consumption is less than 0.1 m3/h, then the installation of the meter is not needed, and, consequently, copies of the described documents.
Example of a meter approval certificate
- A diagram of the location from which the samples will be taken.
- Copies of papers that confirm that the applicant owns this site.
- A document on the maximum load on the water supply network, which indicates for what purposes the water will be used (daily needs, fire system, pool, irrigation).
- Expert decision of federal or private SES, if required.
Before starting the application, it is recommended to make a topographic plan of the site with the help of surveyors, if it is not available or it was drawn up more than 1 year ago.

Payment for water supply will depend on the selected source:
- wells;
- Main system;
- offline source.
If you decide to opt for the main water supply, then it may not be such a good option as it seems at first glance. The main disadvantages of such a system are uneven availability, a lot of official documentation for registration, and an incomplete scope of services provided.
