Buyer's Guide FAQ
What is a split system
Split system is a device divided into two blocks: outdoor and outdoor. All functions of the device are also divided into these two blocks. A split system, unlike a conventional air conditioner, can not only cool, but also heat the room, ionize the air, ventilate and more.
How to choose
Follow the following criteria to choose a quality and efficient split system.
Split system type
- Wall mounted;
- floor;
- Ceiling;
- Floor and ceiling;
- Cassette;
- Channel;
- household;
- Industrial;
- Semi-industrial.
Depending on the area of the room
The table below shows the optimum power for your room size:
Noiselessness - if the noise of the split system is small, then you will be comfortable enough to sleep, because increased sound vibrations will only cause inconvenience;
Modes - the more modes there are in the split system, the better for users. If the device can heat, ventilate, ionize, cool and even disinfect the air;
Functionality - some models, not their cheap ones, have built-in sensors, which allows them to determine the exact number of people in the room and correctly regulate the airflow. It is thanks to this function that the system will be able to automatically adjust the temperature, comfortable for everyone. This is set by manual settings, and then it is already regulated by automation;
Weight and dimensions - the fact is that if the size and weight of the split system is larger, then its power will be much greater;
Housing material - if you select a device made of plastic, then you need to make sure that it is of high quality and can withstand external weather conditions, temperature changes and more. There are metal models that are considered more reliable.
How to turn it on for heat
You can turn on the heating mode by selecting the correct option on the remote control using the MODE key. Scroll through the icons in the menu until you find the sun symbol and the caption HEAD.
Why doesn't she chill
This problem may occur due to the following indicators:
- The split system works too little - it will take more than one hour to properly cool the room;
- Low system power for a large room;
- Too high temperature for cooling: instead of 17 minimum, it costs, for example, 24;
- Uninsulated room - if a window is open, a door to the street is open, or there are other holes in the walls or ceiling, then the cooled air will not accumulate, but only leave;
- Instead of the cooling mode, the “hair dryer” or “ventilation” mode can be selected;
- The filters of the indoor unit are clogged;
- Clogged radiator of the external unit;
- Low voltage in the network;
- Freon leak;
- And many other problems.
How to clean
Cleaning the split system must be carried out in several stages:
The first
Unplug the device from the mains and wait 15 minutes for the residual voltage to subside. Next, remove the outer panels, where the latches are usually located on the sides of the indoor unit. Open the lid and pull out the mesh filter sections. They are on skids, so it will be easy to remove them.
Then removes the additional filter and ionizer. Then, with the help of a brush and a dry sponge, we wipe everything well from dust and dirt. The filter itself and the ionizer can be washed in warm water with detergents. Before putting the parts back, you need to dry them completely.
Second
Next, using the instructions for your model, you need to remove the front of the case, and then the condensate collection tray. The mount itself is held on by screws, so by unscrewing them you will pull out the tray. The drain pipe is easily and simply disconnected, as is the impeller. It is unscrewed, and the screw that holds it is also unscrewed. Everything can be wiped with a dry sponge.
Third
Here comes the removal of dirt and dust from all internal parts of the split system. To do this, a special structure is installed on the wall, which will collect all the dirt. Here it is better to seek help from specialists, since not all models can be washed with ordinary water and detergent.
How to turn it on without a remote
There must be a hidden button on the indoor unit to turn on the system without a remote control.It can be sunk, so you'll need a long object to tap on it and activate it.
What do you need to know before buying?
Before we move on to the rating and comparison of models, it is fair to pay a little attention to the issues of choosing a climate complex. Without taking up much of your time, here are the most basic pieces of information you'll need when making a purchase:
performance and area for which the complex is designed. In the characteristics for each model, the serviced area is always indicated. It’s better not to take it quite close - a small margin will not hurt so that the device does not work at its limits. Productivity or air exchange - the volume of air that cleans the complex per hour. On sale there are models with a capacity of 120 to 700 m3 / h or more. To understand which device you need, multiply the area of the room by the height of the ceiling, and multiply the result by 3 (the air must be updated at least three times per hour). For a room with an area of 20 m2, the productivity must be at least 180 m3 / h;
Sometimes air washers are given out as climatic complexes, which, in turn, are ordinary traditional-type air humidifiers. Such devices pass air only through a water filter. As a result, it is cleaned of dust and moistened. There are many more filters and options in the climate complex.
- filter types. Theoretically, the more filters, the better. In fact, it all depends on the operating conditions. Perhaps you don’t need some kind of filter at all, and therefore it makes no sense to overpay for it. We list the main types of filters:
- the water module can be designed in different ways, but its main task is to “wash away” large particles of dust and pollution from the air, and in parallel to moisten it to normal values for a particular temperature;
- pre-filter traps particles larger than 5 microns;
- HEPA filters are pleated paper filters that trap dust particles as small as 0.3 microns. The degree of filtration depends on the size of the pores and the number of wrinkles on the paper, which is indicated by numbers from 10 to 14 (the lower the number, the better). HEPA filters need to be replaced periodically;
- charcoal filter helps to get rid of unpleasant odors;
- The photocatalytic filter kills viruses and bacteria by exposing them to UV rays from a special lamp. There are not in all complexes;
- The electrostatic filter cleans the air well from dust and allergens. A current is applied to the filter, due to which the passing air, together with polluting particles, is ionized. Somewhat heavier dust particles settle on the filter plates, as well as on the floor, furniture - in general, they do not fly in the air, so it becomes cleaner. The filter only needs to be washed periodically;

- noise level - focus on 40-50 dB;
- additional functions make the device more convenient and "omnipotent", but also increase its cost. Before buying, soberly evaluate whether you really need all the chips, and they can be as follows:
- timer - turns off the device at a specified time. Very comfortably;
- the remote control allows you to configure the device without getting up from the sofa;
- night mode allows you to reduce the noise level and the brightness of the backlight;
- The filter clogging indicator works against your forgetfulness. Installed in many models;
- the flavoring is made in the form of a block where the capsule is placed or the aroma oil is poured. If the goal is to overcome unpleasant odors, then along with filters, the flavor will be very useful;
- air purity control - a function that helps the device determine the degree of air pollution by various substances so that the complex operates at the appropriate power without using all its resources;
- the choice of the direction of the air flow is carried out thanks to the movable blinds;
- built-in hygrostat measures the level of humidity;
- The UV lamp can be installed separately, and not as part of a photocatalytic filter, but it has the same tasks - to kill pathogens that enter the complex with air;
- ionization and so will be carried out in the presence of an electrostatic filter. If it is not there, and it is necessary to ionize the air, look at devices with a built-in ionizer;
- locking the control panel is very convenient if there are children in the family.

Naturally, it is worth considering the size and design, but here you will figure it out without us. We are moving on to the most interesting - we are studying the best climatic complexes of 2020.
The best monoblock models
If you don't want to mess up a renovation you've just completed, or if you want to have a mobile air conditioning unit at your disposal, a monobloc is the best choice. To install this type of air conditioner, it is enough to equip just one hole. Through it, hot air will be removed from the room through a special tube.
Among the positive qualities of such a device, one can note its mobility.You will be able to move the unit to the desired location within reach of the hose. And also it can be moved to another room or put away in the pantry if it is no longer needed.
