Diesel fuel design

In areas where access to power is impossible or limited, it is optimal to make a diesel thermal do-it-yourself cannon. This equipment is a little more difficult to make on your own, unlike the electrical counterpart, since you will need to make two cases and use welding. It takes about 15 liters of fuel to heat a room of approximately 700 m².

Principle of operation

The bottom element in this design is the diesel fuel tank. A gun is directly installed on top, in which there is a fan and a combustion chamber. Fuel enters the chamber, and the fan transmits heated air. To ignite and transfer fuel, a fuel pump, connecting hose, nozzle and filter will be needed.An electric motor is connected to the fan.

The combustion chamber is installed in the center at the top of the body. This is an iron cylinder with a diameter approximately 2 times smaller than the diameter of the body. The products of fuel combustion are removed from the chamber using a vertically installed pipe.

Assembly Features

The lower part must be located at a distance of at least 20 cm from the upper body. So that the fuel container does not heat up excessively, it must be made of a material with low thermal conductivity. You can also choose a conventional metal tank, which must be covered with a heat-insulating layer.

The upper part must be made of thick metal. A piece of metal pipe will do. In the case you need to place:

• fan with electric motor;
• nozzle with fuel pump;
• combustion chamber with a pipe for the output of combustion products.

After that, a fuel pump is attached, and a metal pipe is brought to the tank, with the help of which fuel is supplied first to the fuel filter, and then to the nozzle. Protective nets are installed along the edges of the upper body. You need to think about the power supply for the fan to work first. If access to the mains is limited, a rechargeable battery can be used.

During the operation of a diesel heater, safety precautions must be observed. Even at a distance of one meter, the hot airflow can reach 450 degrees. It is not advised to use this device in enclosed spaces, as the combustion products of diesel fuel are dangerous to humans.

In addition to heaters that run on diesel fuel, other combustible materials are also used for guns, for example, engine oil.

How to choose a heat gun

Before choosing a heat gun, there are a few important things to consider.

Unit form. Thermal liquid fuel heaters can have a rectangular and cylindrical shape. Rectangular due to the large area of ​​​​distribution of the air flow can be used as the best option during construction work indoors.

How is heat gun power calculated?

The thermal power of the device is calculated by the formula: V * T * K = kcal / h, where:

• V is the volume of the room (width * length * height), in m3;
• T is the difference between the temperature outside and in the room, in degrees Celsius;
• K is the coefficient of thermal dissipation.

For different types of premises, the values ​​of the coefficient are set:

• from 3.0 to 4.0 - a room in which thermal insulation is not provided, for example, a structure made of wood or sheet metal;
• from 2.0 to 2.9 - a room with poor thermal insulation. A simple building with one brick masonry;
• from 1.0 to 1.9 - a building with an average level of thermal insulation (laying in 2 bricks and several windows, a standard roof);
• from 0.6 to 0.9 - a building with high quality thermal insulation. Brick building with double insulation. Double glazing on windows. The base under the floor is of sufficient thickness. On the roof, for insulation, high quality material is used.

Power calculation example thermal diesel gun:

• V = 150 m3;
• T = 29° С (outside temperature -10° С, required indoors +19° С, the difference will be - +29° С);
• K = 2 (one-brick building);

We substitute the data into the formula: 150 * 29 * 2 = 8700 kcal / h, despite the fact that 1 kWh = 860 kcal / h. So: 8700/860 = 10.116 kWh.Thus, we learned that to heat this building, a liquid fuel heat gun with a minimum power of 10 kWh is required. It is recommended to buy a unit with some power reserve.

Direct heating heat generator

The diesel heat gun of direct heating is not equipped with a chimney and has the simplest design. Therefore, once-through heaters are inexpensive, compact, easy to use and reliable. The ignition of the fuel occurs with the help of a spark plug, in some models - from an electric spark gap. The heated air stream, together with the exhaust gases, enters the building that needs to be heated.

The use of such a heater is possible only in non-residential buildings with a good ventilation system or on construction sites (open).

IR guns differ from their predecessors in the principle of operation. The generated heat reaches the surrounding objects not through directed air flows, but through radiation. For operation, the equipment is connected either to an electrical circuit or to a gas cylinder.

There is no fan in the design, heat transfer occurs due to the emitter - flametin. The heating element is a spiral made of an alloy of different metals, enclosed in a tube of quartz glass. When heated, tubular heating elements generate infrared radiation.

Behind the heating element is a reflector - a mirror reflector focuses infrared rays in the right direction and prevents heating of the internal mechanisms and body of the gun.
