How to choose: criteria and characteristics
To use the robot vacuum cleaner was really comfortable, you need to pay attention to its technical characteristics before buying
Before choosing a device that really suits you, let's define all the important characteristics.
Container volume
To clean rooms that occupy a small area, devices with a dust collector containing 0.3-0.4 liters are suitable. To clean more spacious housing, devices with containers of 0.5 liters will come in handy.
Noise level
Noise of 50 dB or more can cause significant discomfort, especially at night.So that the vacuum cleaner does not interfere with rest, the noise level during its operation should not exceed 36 dB.
Navigation type
To operate a good robot vacuum cleaner, the user almost does not have to make any effort. It is recommended to give preference to devices that can independently navigate in the surrounding space, create a map of the room to be cleaned and easily overcome obstacles. Such options are especially important for houses and apartments with a large number of rooms.
A navigation system is included in every robot vacuum cleaner. It can consist of three types of sensors:
- ultrasonic - allow the gadget to easily drive under furniture and get out from under it, detect doorways and move on to cleaning the next room;
- optical - necessary to identify obstacles and avoid collisions with them;
- infrared - thanks to them, the vacuum cleaner feels height differences: it passes through the wires without getting tangled in them, does not fall down the stairs, does not drive on the carpets.
There is another classification of navigation systems:
- Contactless. The device detects obstacles at a distance and, in order not to collide with them, corrects the direction of movement. The device can move along various trajectories: straight, circles or zigzags.
- Contactless. When it hits an object, it starts moving in the opposite direction. Such models are additionally equipped with a soft bumper.
Suction power
Conventional models have a suction power of no more than 20-22 watts. More expensive robots boast 30 to 35 watts of power. This is enough to remove small debris and dust.
Battery type and capacity
Modern robotic vacuum cleaners run on three types of batteries:
- Li-Ion.A device with such a battery can cope with cleaning a large area in a short period of time.
- Li-pol. In the manufacture of Li-Pol batteries, high quality polymers are used. providing long service life of the device. They do not contain flammable components.
- NiMH. Can withstand 20% more charge cycles than Li-Ion. The disadvantage is the high discharge rate and heating during operation, which can be dangerous.
Number of filtration stages
Sucking in air, the device passes it through filters that trap dust and debris. The quality of cleaning and the absence of re-contamination directly depend on the cleaning system.
There are two types of filters:
- coarse cleaning - an economical option that retains large debris, but does not protect against dust emissions;
- HEPA filter - has a compacted structure and a large number of layers that do not allow dust to enter the air.
Equipment
The main device must be supplemented with the following components:
- power adapter;
- instructions for using the device;
- base for recharging;
- warranty card.
It is desirable that the set includes spare brushes and filters, limiters and motion coordinators.
Robot height
On average, the height of a robotic vacuum cleaner is 6-10 cm, but on sale you can find models whose height is only 3 cm.
The best robotic vacuum cleaners for combined cleaning
These devices combine the functions of dry and wet cleaning. Unlike robotic mops and floor polishers, they do not wash the floor in the full sense of the word, but only wipe it from dust.Combined models cannot be used with detergents, as they do not have special water tanks.

The best robotic vacuum cleaners for wet cleaning
Washing models of robots are not equipped with brushes, but with a special napkin made of hygroscopic material. From the built-in container, water is continuously supplied to the cloth. The movements of the robots imitate the movements of a conventional mop - transverse, longitudinal and zigzag.

Advantages and disadvantages of LG technology
All South Korean cleaning drones on the market are characterized by convenient and compact dimensions, low noise level, as well as an impressive number of sensors that help the device navigate and move around in space without any problems.
The advantages of the devices should also include:
- elaborate navigation system;
- a huge number of cleaning modes;
- autonomy of work;
- surface cleaning quality.
At the same time, many models increase their power when they move on to cleaning carpets. This once again confirms the thoughtfulness of the device.

Functionality.
A review of the LG VRF4041LS robot vacuum cleaner allows us to conclude that it has rich functionality and is endowed with all the functions necessary for independent thorough daily cleaning of the premises.
The device uses different modes:
- "My place" - a mode in which a thorough cleaning of a small area is performed. In this mode, the robot passes a certain area several times in zigzag movements.
- "Cleaning in a zigzag" - is used for quick cleaning of the premises, moving the "snake" the robot goes through the entire room and after completing the work, returns to the base on its own.
- "Manual cleaning" - the robot vacuum cleaner is controlled and moved to the right place using the keys on the control panel.
Additional functions:
- Turbo mode - is used to clean heavily soiled places, while there is an increase in suction power.
- The "Smart Turbo" mode is used for thorough cleaning of carpets.
- "Repeat mode" - is used to repeat the process of previous movements of the robot vacuum cleaner until the battery is completely discharged.
- "Learning" - the ability to remember the route of movement and obstacles in its path during the last cleaning and use this information in subsequent work.
One of the main features of the LG VRF4041LS robot vacuum cleaner is its mapping memory, which provides the function of building a map of the room to be cleaned. With the help of the upper Single Eye camera, the device collects information about the room in which it is located and, after carefully analyzing it, builds a route for the most efficient operation.A special location search function in the program helps the device remember its location and continue working from the place where it left off, as well as change the direction of movement so as not to clean the same place twice.

Numerous sensors located on the body of the robot vacuum cleaner form a “Digital Bumper”, which allows you to determine the distance to obstacles with an accuracy of 10 mm, preventing collisions with them. The gadget has an ultrasonic sensor, with which it recognizes even glass and other transparent obstacles, stopping before it comes into contact with them. And the cliff sensor is sensitive to changes in height, thereby preventing the robot from falling down the stairs or from any other hill. Continuous analysis of all collected information helps to make cleaning safer and more thorough.
The device has another very useful feature - intelligent self-diagnosis, which it uses to perform self-diagnosis. During it, the vacuum cleaner moves in a circle within a radius of 50 cm from the charging station. Upon successful completion, the device notifies you by voice message and returns to the charging base. Information about the detection of any malfunctions is transmitted by the corresponding voice message.
