Bosch speakers - malfunctions and troubleshooting methods
Bosch water heaters are of good build quality and are guaranteed to work for the entire period of operation declared by the manufacturer. Minor glitches happen.
Repair and maintenance of Bosch gas water heaters is carried out by specialists, representatives of the service center. The guarantee is valid for the first 24 months from the moment the boiler is put into operation. During the entire warranty period, maintenance is free of charge.
The manufacturer has the right to refuse warranty repair of Bosch speakers under the following conditions:
- self-installation of the boiler;
violation of the rules of operation.
Minor faults can be corrected independently. To identify what repairs are needed for a Bosch gas water heater, the following is a table of common breakdowns and troubleshooting methods:
| Deciphering codes and methods for fixing breakdowns | ||
| The code | What does the signal say | Correction method |
| A0 | The temperature sensor is damaged. | It is necessary to check the serviceability of the temperature sensor, the absence of breaks in the supply cable ¹ Repairs are carried out by the service department. |
| A1 | The case is overheating. | Overheating occurs due to malfunctions of the modulating burner regulator. New software installation required. |
| A4 | The air temperature sensor is defective. | The serviceability of the temperature sensor is checked, if necessary, it is replaced.¹ |
| A7 | Faulty hot water temperature sensor. | The temperature sensor is being tested.¹ |
| A9 | The water heating sensor is installed incorrectly. Insufficient gas pressure. | Identified violations associated with the installation of the temperature sensor. The operation of the gas supply system is checked.¹ |
| C7 | The fan does not turn on. | The correct connection of the turbine is checked. The DHW tap is reopened. |
| CA | There is an excess of water. | The restrictor filter is defective and needs to be replaced. |
| CF C1 | There is no normal traction. There is not enough oxygen to start the gas column. | The chimney is cleaned. Reset the water heater software by pressing the (Reset) button. |
| E0 | The programmer is out of order. | Reset settings (Reset). |
| E1 | Hot water overheating. | The column is allowed to cool for 15-20 min, then switched on again. If the problem persists: contact the customer service immediately. |
| E2 | Faulty cold water temperature sensor. | The temperature sensor is being tested.¹ |
| E4 | Combustion products have leaked. | The column is turned off, the gas service is called. |
| E9 | The overheating protection has tripped. | Self-repair is not possible. |
| EA | The ionization sensor does not distinguish between flames. | The power supply of the column, the performance of the ionization electrodes are checked. ¹ The settings are reset with the (Reset) key. |
| EU | The ionization system does not work. | The type of gas, pressure is checked. Eliminate gas leakage, clean the chimney, eliminate dirt and debris. |
| EE | The modulation valve does not work. | Check the connection of the valves to the control unit. Repairs are not carried out independently. |
| EF | The column is not ready for operation. | Repairs are carried out by the service department. |
| F7 | The ionization sensor detects the presence of a flame, although the water heater is not connected to the power supply. | The serviceability of cables and electrodes is checked. A visual inspection of the chimney is carried out. ¹ Reset the settings to the original (Reset). |
| F9 | The solenoid valve is off. | Check the quality of the connection of the three terminals on the valve and the control unit.¹ |
| FA | Broken gas valve. | Contact customer service. |
| KO | The gas valve button is pressed longer than necessary. | The key is pressed. |
| Noise | During operation, vibration of the case is felt, there are extraneous noises. | You should call a specialist. |
¹Works performed exclusively by the service center.
The device and principle of operation of Bosch speakers
All boilers are divided into two main classes (according to the type of ignition), and several subclasses. Bosch gas instantaneous water heaters are available in the following versions:
- Semi-automatic columns - there are two burners in the device: the main and the pilot. The wick burns continuously. When the DHW tap is opened, the igniter ignites the gas on the main burner. The ignition of the igniter is carried out using a piezoelectric element.
Automatic columns - turn on independently when the DHW tap is opened. The ignition unit produces a spark on the burner, igniting the gas. Bosch automatic gas water heaters, in turn, are divided into two subgroups:
- battery powered;
using a hydrogenerator to produce sparks.
In addition to the separation according to the principle of ignition, Bosch speakers are divided into two classes according to the internal structure. There are water heaters with closed (turbo) and open (atmospheric) combustion chamber. Turbocharged have built-in fans that blow air to the burner. Atmospheric boilers use natural convection of air masses.
The service life of Bosch speakers is 8-12 years. The service life is affected by the quality of the heated water, compliance with the connection and use rules established by the manufacturer.

How to clean a Bosch column
Bosch recommends that the heat exchanger be flushed every 2 years. Service is performed at the customer's home. In the absence of regular cleaning of the geyser, the internal cavity of the heat exchanger is so overgrown with scale that flushing will be performed exclusively at the service center. Service at home at the customer will be inefficient. In the service center, the coil is washed in a special installation. The chemical reagent is supplied under pressure into the radiator.
You can clean the Bosch flow-through gas boiler at home, with a slight overgrowth of the internal cavity of the heat exchanger, using any chemical reagents designed to remove scale. Improvised means can come to the rescue: lemon juice, acetic acid.
