According to this document, the period for replacing a gas meter in a private house and in an apartment cannot exceed 30 days. During this period, the calculation of the utility bill will take place according to the standard established in your region.

After the replacement of the gas meter, from the moment the application for sealing is submitted, the management company must contact the owner within three days. If this does not happen, you have the right to contact the housing inspectorate and file a complaint.

Installation and operation requirements

Replacement procedure

1. An agreement is concluded with a specialized company to replace the old device with a new one.
2. After signing such an agreement, a specialist comes to the application within a few days at the agreed time.
3. He is checking the old device. If it is necessary to replace it, the old meter is dismantled, and a new one is installed.
4. Before installation, a new meter is also tested for its technical serviceability.
5. After installing a new measuring device, the specialist must issue an act on the work, as well as on the commissioning of a new meter.
6. Based on the documents received, the homeowner applies to the Criminal Code to install seals on the counters. This must be done within 3 days.

Operation of counting devices without seals installed on them is strictly prohibited by law. If this is found, the homeowner will be charged the general tariffs when paying for utilities from the moment when the meter was last fixed with intact seals.

It is also important to know that each meter has a certain calibration interval, during which the manufacturer guarantees that it will give readings correctly. This interval is usually 8-12 years.

Verification is carried out by representatives of the gas service. There are 2 ways of verification: exit and at home. Calling a specialist to your home will certainly be more expensive, but you won’t have to dismantle the counting apparatus and take it to a specialist. The verification results in the recognition of the device as suitable for further use, or the need to replace it is indicated. Based on this conclusion, the owner may be obliged to install a new gas meter.

Meter Replacement Rules

Replacing an old flow meter involves calling special gas services, since self-replacement is prohibited in our country. The procedure is carried out in several stages:

1. The first step is to contact the local gas service and make an application for a replacement. Documents confirming the ownership of the apartment are attached to the application.
2. Specialists inspect gas-consuming devices and check the condition of the gas pipeline.
3. Since the replacement of a gas meter in an apartment is not yet provided free of charge at the state level, the owner undertakes to purchase a new measuring device. Procedure

Drawing up an application

To perform verification, you should apply with an application to the management company or to the service provider. The timing of verification of meters should be calculated independently, they can also be found on the website of the State Services or in your management company, if it has one. Filing an application

The verification itself will be carried out by another company, and after an application for its implementation is submitted, you need to separately submit an application for it, choosing the company you intend to apply to. The firm must have the appropriate attestation.

Carrying out verification

The verification itself can be performed either directly on site or in the laboratory. In the second case, the device is usually delivered to the laboratory on its own, and the total verification period can be a week or even two. But if the counter is not removed, then the process usually turns out to be short-lived, and everything can end in just half an hour.

According to GOST 12.2.003-91, during verification, the following indicators of IPU should be determined:

• error level under standard conditions;
• reliability;
• safety;
• environmental friendliness;
• ergonomics.

Verification includes:

• external examination - it is determined how readable the meter readings are, whether there is damage to the case, whether the device corresponds to its passport;
• testing - a stream of water is passed through the device for five minutes, and it is determined how tight it is;
• error detection - with the help of a special installation it is measured whether there is an inaccuracy in the measurement; an inaccuracy within 5% is considered acceptable, with a larger one, calibration or replacement is required.

How is the expiration date different from the calibration period and the warranty period?

At the time of checking and sealing any electric meter, its service life begins. This is not the same period of 25 years specified in the manufacturer's passport (25 years is an approximate period, the expiration date in which the device will remain in working condition, according to the factory's calculations).

In the documentation, next to the start-up date, the time and date of the next test to be carried out is put. Otherwise, this period is called the calibration interval (IPI).

The fact is that although the device as a whole continues to work, from time to time failures that are invisible to the eye may appear in it, an error may increase, which must be identified and eliminated.

The warranty period for electric meters, as well as for any other device, is the period during which the buyer can count on free warranty service, repair or replacement.

Different manufacturers indicate different warranty periods, for example, 5 years.

Calibration intervals may differ for different meter models. For single-phase - 2 years. For three-phase - a year. Electronic meters can be checked less frequently: once every 4 to 16 years.

In addition, different types of checks can be assigned for different verification intervals. So, if an electric meter is subjected to metrological control once every 16 years, then it will be checked for serviceability of the internal battery and errors in operation every 6 years. Checking the reliability of connecting circuits can be assigned by energy sales organizations in accordance with their work schedules.

The essence of such a check (reliability of connection) is to remove the cover, remove dust from the contacts, tighten the bolts and seal again.

The start of the calibration interval is the date of sealing and commissioning, and not the date of production or purchase.

After the calibration interval has elapsed, the metrological service may conclude that the meter is still in good condition and can continue to be used.

Norms and rules

To determine the required distance from the gas pipe, after the development of a residential building project, citizens of the Russian Federation apply for the appropriate permit (approval) to the local gas distribution organization. For a definite answer, you need to know the type of gas pipeline and what pressure is applied when it is supplied. If data on the type of gasket and on the pressure in the pipes are not available, it is impossible to give an unambiguous answer.

What is the service life of a gas meter? What is the danger of using a device with an expired shelf life?

According to the amendments to Federal Law No. 261 “On Energy Saving and Increasing Energy Efficiency”, owners of apartments and residential buildings must install meters to measure gas consumption by January 1, 2020, or the device will be installed by force by a special service.
