EVAN Warmos - heating element relays do not work

Introduction.Any non-core repair always makes the engineer feel like a toothache, you need to treat it, but you cannot cure it yourself. Therefore, when the payment from the EVAN Warmos heating boiler came in for repairs, the repairs were transferred from one engineer to another, and as a result, the engineer on duty got it. As expected, the repair itself turned out to be simple, but the time spent on studying this device took almost the entire duty (from 18-00 to 23-00), of course, with a distraction for big smoke breaks and chatter on the phone. Malfunction according to the customer. Heating element relays not working. Primary diagnosis. Since the on-site line mechanic identified the relay as faulty, and the relays looked like relays with a UPS, repairs automatically fell to our department. The soldered relay turned out to be absolutely serviceable, so it was necessary to prove the incorrect diagnosis to the line mechanic, the situation was complicated by the fact that this same mechanic started the heaters bypassing the board through the thermostat, which means that the board was inoperable. On the other hand, the presence of only one board without strapping and repair experience made such repairs akin to looking for a needle in a haystack. The board turned out to be “dead”, that is, discontinued and not supported by the manufacturer. Since the relays did not work, the suspicion fell on the relay control circuit. An external examination revealed a defect in the soldering of all 4.7 kΩ resistors in the resistor control circuits.

All 4.7k resistors had a soldering defect, it is not very visible from below, but there the picture is the same as above.
Repair.As expected, the soldering of 4.7 kΩ resistors (R4, R20, R27, R33, R38) did not solve anything, since it is impossible to start the heater relay without a concept of the mechanism of operation. I had to take a pencil and a sheet of paper, as it turned out later in vain, the relays were controlled from the outputs of the microcontroller and it was easier to search by the name of the board MK4573.1103 (04). With the help of google search, we find two documents that complement each other well and allow you to launch the repaired board in a workshop without strapping.

After a short experiment, it turned out to check the relay K2, it is necessary to close the contacts X5.1, X5.13 to emulate the operation of the thermostat and the contacts X5.10, X5.7 to emulate the inclusion of the first stage of the heater.
Switching circuit of relay K2, it is not necessary to install the LED.
Unfortunately, they did not catch the logic of the heaters, since when the control unit MK4573.1103 (04) is turned on with the 1st stage key pressed, all three relays are triggered in turn, stopping at relay K2. When contacts X1 (air sensor) or X2 (emergency sensor) are closed, the closed relay K2 opens, regardless of the switched on switch of the 1st stage of heating. The diagnostics is completed, the board is in good condition, the binding elements connected to the connectors X1, X2 are faulty, which are in a closed state, which causes the control board not to turn on the heater contactor relay. Conclusion. After the repair, sketches of the scheme remained, it’s a pity to throw them away, but there is no need for them, they may be useful to other specialists, they turned out to be unnecessary for us.

UPD 12/30/2015. As expected, the control board turned out to be serviceable, the problem was in the harness. When disconnecting all connectors X1, X2, X3, the board started working, so when sending the board for repair, you should disconnect these connectors and check the control board is working.

If necessary, the valve discharges excess coolant.

If suddenly, the pressure sensor or the working temperature sensor fails, the device will also block its activity. If the failure was short-term, then the boiler will restore its working capacity on its own. The independence of the EXPERT electric boiler is determined, among other things, by monitoring the presence of phases. For example, if one phase fails, the device will continue to work on the remaining two.

If the second phase also disappears, the boiler will not stop and will continue to operate, eating from one phase. But that's not all! When the power is restored and the phases return, the Evan electric boiler will analyze which relays and heating elements were idle and “force” them to work out the missed time. Thus, the resource of the relay and heating elements will be equal.
Another element of the security system is an automatic air vent. Its task is to bleed excess air from the system, preventing the formation of air pockets. Of course, we know that all Evan electric boilers are able to withstand voltage fluctuations. For Evan EXPERT, this range is a record 160 to 260 volts.
Of course, in the event of a complete absence of electricity in the network, the unit will turn off. But when the voltage is restored, the device will reach operating parameters on its own, without human intervention. It remains to be added that from a banal short circuit, the Evan electric boiler protects the circuit breaker from the company DEKraft.
